How long you’ve been training for: I have been training in the gym for about 7 years, but training for competitions since July 2013.
How did you get started in health and fitness? Why did you start training?
I grew up as a dancer and did athletics, sprinting and discus in particular, and later went into professional dancing and also trained and performed as a professional wrestler. As a teenager I admired the strong female physiques of the women in the WWE (then WWF) and also the women on and in Oxygen Magazine. I wanted to be stronger against my opponents for pro-wrestling and also possess a more appealing and strong looking physique like those of the sports and fitness models in Oxygen Magazine, so then I started lifting weights. I continued wanting to look like a sports model even more so and had dreams of one day competing, it wasn’t until I made a pact with my best friend that we would both compete last year that I truly began taking my training very seriously and became disciplined and dedicated to achieving my goals.
What does your current training split look like?
It changes depending on where I am in regards to my comp prep, but currently I weight train 3-4 times a week and do different types of cardio 5 times a week. So there are some days when I train twice a day.
What are your three favourite exercises in your workout routine?
I love stiletto squats, hip thrusters and over head throw downs.
What is your favourite form of cardio? How often do you do cardio?
I love jogging and cardio circuits, and have a love/hate for HIIT. It depends where I am in my prep for a comp as to how much cardio I am doing, can be from 3-6 times a week.
What is your diet like? Do you follow a certain ‘type’ of diet?
I am Vegan. I have been fuelling my body purely on a plant-based diet for the past 7 years.
What is your favourite meal?
Tofu, broccoli, asparagus and some almond spread or natural smooth peanut butter.
What is your favourite ‘cheat’ food?
Vegetable and Tofu Panang Curry and rice.
What supplements do you use?
I use Vegan Protein Powder, BCAA’s, Green Tea, Magnesium and a Multivitamin. I have also just started on ASN’s all natural vegan thermogenic KeTrim Plus.
What is your greatest achievement in the health and fitness industry?
Being the Runner Up for the Oxygen Cover Girl Competition 2013 and Top 5 at WBFF Australian Championships 2014 along with becoming the Ambassador for ASN Castle Hill and being sponsored by PHYSIQUEINT.COM
What would you most like to achieve in the fitness industry?
I would LOVE to be on the cover of Oxygen Magazine and have a feature in it! I would also love to earn my Pro Card with the WBFF and compete internationally. But most of all, I wish to inspire people to want to make a positive difference to their health and train to earn the body and reflection they have always wanted.
What is the biggest mistake you made when first starting out?
Not getting enough sleep or eating enough to grow muscle and over training. Thankfully I had my coach, Hattie Boydle’s guidance to send me in the healthy direction.
What are three tips you would share with a beginner?
- Have a session with a PT to learn proper form.
- Find yourself a respected, quality coach who will give you great training programs and food guidelines where you are fuelling your body with the right foods and nutrition and not starving it and knows how to prepare you right up until the very moment you step on stage.
- You must have posing lessons, especially if you don’t have a dance background. Posing lessons are essential!
Where does your motivation come from? Who is your favourite fitness model/inspiration?
My motivation comes from myself. I have so much that I want to achieve and I am the only one who can make it happen, so I push myself, everyday, visualizing myself achieving my goals, and my determination to accomplish them all is so fierce that I can’t help but feel motivated.
My favourite fitness models are Hattie Boydle, Jen Jewell, Andreia Brazier, Justine Munro and Jamie Eason.
What is the impact you would like to make on the fitness industry?
I would like to improve my physique to the point of extreme impressiveness to show the world that a healthy, strong, muscular, attractive physique can be built purely on a plant based diet to hopefully create intrigue and interest in plant fuelled muscle, and show that there are alternatives in obtaining the physique you desire other than just eating chicken, egg whites and white fish, that there are other ways to try if meat and dairy products aren’t your thing or if you would like to cut back on them just a little or even just learn more about being a plant based athlete and try something new! I’d like to be the catalyst for people to discover more about plant based diets and inspire people to improve their health further through plant fuel and training.
