I’m now 9 weeks out from the Natural Olympia and am starting to get really excited for the upcoming weeks.
I’m not going to lie, this week was a battle. I’m currently swamped with uni work and uni assessments and am finding it difficult to balance my studies with dieting and working out. I’ve struggled emotionally this week, I was stressed and tired and those close to me noticed that I was more moody than usual. It’s difficult and sometimes I wish that I didn’t have so much going on but I’m constantly working on balance and ensuring that my hobbies don’t negatively impact the special people in my life.
According to the scales, I didn’t make too much progress this week – I lost only a few hundred grams. But I lost 0.5cm off my waist and am looking much leaner, especially in my upper body. (Other people have noticed this too so it’s not just wishful thinking). Some mornings I also have 3 or 4 abs poking out and I can start to see a little teardrop definition in my quad. And my boobs have almost halved in size…that’s the issue with not having implants; when you’re trying to lose fat, the boobs are often the first to go.
Interesting fact: my waist measurement before I travelled to the US last year (before the Natural Olympia 2013) was 61.9cm. I’m now 9 weeks out and my waist is only 0.6cm bigger than that (even though I’m 5kg heavier)
My current stats:
- Last week’s weight: 58.75g
- This week’s weight: 58.60g
- Last week’s waist measurement: 63cm
- This week’s waist measurement: 62.5cm
My current macros:
- Low carb days (5 x per week)
- 150g protein
- 68g fat
- 185g carbs
- High carb days (2 x per week)
- 130g protein
- 63g fat
- 285g carbs
What am I changing for next week?
My macros will remain the same because I’m losing fat on them and it’s always best to eat as much as possible when trying to lose weight. (If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!).
I’m going to put more effort into my nutrient timing and ensure that most of my carbohydrates are eaten before and after my workouts. My coach Nick Cheadle thinks that it may help with my tiredness and help me push harder during the workouts.
